Staying Within Your Limits

I am sometimes asked if I have any struggles, and how I deal with them.  Off course we all have struggles, I have many, but what defines us is not the struggles, but how we deal with them.  So, what are one of my struggles? Early on I learned that an important element of happiness is achieved by staying within your nature. My struggle is more a case of exceeding my limits, not stopping before my tank is on empty. Core is understanding one’s limits and how these change as we get older.  Adapting.

Living within your limits (and nature) is important to happiness, and in turn success. But here is the danger … and my struggle. Most people underestimate their limits and deliver only to the compulsory minimum. Few overestimate their limits, delivering closer to their potential, but at some or other cost.  Almost no one defines their limits accurately. This is my space, probably because I am aware that there are many ways to increase one’s limits, like by being more proactive, learning and exercising more.

It is important to accept one’s limits, that is if they are accurately defined.  I live continuous improvement, pushing the boundaries; not a believer that our limits are static, so herein originates my struggle of living within my limits. So how do I deal with it? I find my peace in anticipating, and then accepting, that this will be a lifelong struggle, and to live more within my current defined limits, and separately setting targets, and implementing, that which would increase my limits.
